The Montana Insurance Education Foundation administers two insurance industry-specific scholarships and one college scholarship program.

imageThe Montana Insurance Education Foundation established the Rick Mart Memorial Scholarship in recognition of Rick Mart's passion and dedication to the independent agency system and young agents. This scholarship is designed to help young agents attend their first Big "I" event. 


 MIEF is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law

How to Apply

1. Download and complete the application. 
2. Submit your application at least 45 days prior to the event you wish to attend.
3. Email or mail the completed application to:

What can I use this scholarship for?

First time attendance at an event held by the IIAM.

Who can apply?

You must be a Young Agent and a first-time attendee. 

How much is the scholarship?

Up to $150 for registration and/or reasonable expenses, reimbursed after the event.

Who qualifies as a young agent?

​Those under age 40 or with less than 5 years experience in the industry.

Do I have to be a member?

No, although members are given priority in the selection process.

The Darrell L Bjornson Memorial Scholarship was founded by colleagues and friends of Darrell's as a way to commemorate his contributions to the insurance industry and his unflagging support of continuing education for Montana agents.
In 2013, the MIEF Board of Directors widened the focus to promote professional development for everyone from support staff to producers to agency owners, and renamed it the Darrel L Bjornson Professional Development Scholarship.
